About the event

Current update as of 24 July

We have decided to officially call off the Regatta portion of our event, but the cookout is still happening!  Even though parts of the river seem fine, there still may be some areas that are too low to pass (from where we launch) and portaging the canoe (carrying it over these areas) won't be a lot of fun.  We also heard a rumor that Foote may not be shuttling personal vessels right now (though this is unconfirmed) so that would cause an issue for some of us that aren't renting.  Let's just enjoy a nice afternoon of burgers, dogs, and friends starting at 2 pm without all that hard work leading up to it!

Update as of 15 July

(From Doc) Just wanted to give everyone an update on the Annual Redneck Regatta Canoe & Kayak trip on the Ipswich River. Which doesn't look like it's happening due to the severe drought conditions we are in. Water is REALLY LOW and that's not too much fun. That being said now for the Good news. We are definitely still planning on the afternoon Pool Party / Cookout back here at Paradise Falls (aka 18 Hardy St) so come on over (also no chances of getting bit by a snapping turtle in the pool). Time most likely 2 pm.

Update as of 12 July

Due to the lack of rainfall so far, we may need to postpone this year's regatta. The Ipswich river is extremely low, which means some areas may be impassable except by portaging. Getting out to carry our canoes or kayaks probably won't be super fun if we have to do it constantly. We will continue to post updates, but looks like it may just be a cookout this year.

‐‐---------

It is time to think about our annual Redneck Regatta and cookout!!  We are aware that the regatta may not be for everyone (but we do thank you for giving it a try at least once), but the cookout is open to all!!  Date will be Sunday,  July 31st.

If you are coming for the Regatta, please meet us at 9 am at Foote Brothers Canoe & Kayak Rental, 230 Topsfield Road, Ipswich.  We will take their shuttle to Salem Road in Topsfield then travel the river back toward Foote Brothers.  We will break for lunch halfway through **Be sure to pack yourself a lunch and plenty of water (a watertight cooler strongly suggested)**  This trip is typically about four (4) hours, plus the time we stop for lunch.  After our trip down river we will pack it all up then head back to our house (18 Hardy Street, Danvers) for a cookout to celebrate Michael's birthday.

Anyone that does not want to come kayaking/canoeing please join us at the house any time after 4:00 to relax by the pool and have some burgers and dogs.  If it looks like we will be coming back early due to conditions on the river I will post updates to this page or send out text messages.

If you need to rent a canoe or kayak please call to reserve them ahead of time (footebrotherscanoes.com). We don't know how busy they have been so you may want to call as soon as you can. Book the Salem Road Run.  You can also check current prices on their website for rentals and portage only if you have your own watercraft.

Kids are welcome....Connor will be with us....but remember that this is a very long trip and once you are on the river you are there for the duration!!

In your reply, please let us know where you will be meeting us for the river trip or if you will only be joining us for the cookout.

This event has a group. You’re welcome to join the group once you register for the event.
