Ben & Jerry's Knock-off Orange Cream Dream Ice Cream
approx 40 minutes
makes a generous quart
Introduction
This is our favorite homemade ice cream so far. It really tastes like one of my favorite treats, an orange and vanilla creamsicle. I don't know why, but I was expecting it to be more orange in color, however the small ratio of orange juice concentrate to cream base caused it to look more like a vanilla ice cream. The recipe was passed along to me as a Ben and Jerry's flavor, but I added knock-off to the title, because who knows how close this really is to their recipe. Plus, I tweaked it a bit by adding some fresh orange juice and using a base that did not call for eggs. I just can't bring myself to use eggs in my ice cream yet.
